I would like to know how to take HIV antibody (AIDS) test.

Answer

Anyone can take HIV antibody (AIDS) test for free of charge and in anonymity. Besides, we offer consultation at each test station.

1. Location

(1) Monday to Friday: The test is offered by reservation system at Public Health and Sanitation Section of each ward office.

(2) Sunday: Kawasaki Test/Consultation Office (*) No reservation required.

* Kawasaki City Test/Consultation Office

Address: 4th floor Takashige Bldg., 1-7-5 Isago, Kawasaki-ku, Kawasaki city

Transportation: Walking distance of Kawasaki Station of Keikyu line and JR Kawasaki Station

2. Cost: Free

3. Result: Within a week, test report will be handed over directly to the person who took the test.

However, Public Health and Sanitation Section in Kawasaki, Nakahara and Asao ward conduct rapid diagnosis test, in which the test result is found on the same day if it's negative.

*If you took the test at Kawasaki Test/Consultation Office and could not come to pick up the result on the scheduled day, and also two months have passed, you need to make reservation again to pick up the result.

[Kawasaki Test/Consultation Office] Re-schedule Contact Desk for the test result return: Infectious Disease Control Measures Section, Public Health Centers, Kawasaki Health and Welfare Bureau: 044-200-2439

Note

You should wait at least 90 days after a potential infection before getting tested.

However, if you are very concerned about infection, you can get tested even within 90 days, so please consult us. In that case, even if the test result is negative (you are not infected), you will need to get tested again more than 90 days after the chance of possible infection.
